Today B. Obama gave a historic speech (which he wrote himself)!
Sadly, I do not believe that the speech will have the full effect that it should. I believe that due to the timing of the speech, it gives many an 'out' to dismiss the speech. The ones who so easily dismiss those powerful words are the ones who do not believe the race discussion is needed.
and It Is Needed!!
Just my thoughts ...
*While his pastor made comments that B. Obama and others may not agree with that does not mean that he should leave his church. The hypocrites that believe this should take a look in the mirror. When your co-workers, friends, or family members make sexist or racist comments do you disown them? If your church is anti-abortion but you are pro-abortion do you tell your priest you can no longer belong to the church? Did you leave your priest when the child abuse scandal was occurring? Those who are believers in Jesus Christ .. know better!
*Those who have jumped ship on B. Obama were never true supporters .. and this 'situation' just gives them an out without having to feel guilty.
*Racism is still here .. those who say don't blame me for my grandparents and slavery, etc. Don't take the comments personally if you are truly unbiased. The same ones who say forget about slavery .. do you say to the Jews forget about the Holocaust? We remember in observance of our ancestors.
I could go on and on ... but I am so disappointed and I just keep trying to remind myself to stay focused on Jesus ...
